Grand Rapids is passionate about good food. There is no surprise that there a ton of choices when it comes to farm to fork restaurants. Here are a couple we have enjoyed lately.
The Electric Cheetah
The Electric Cheetah lives up to its eccentric name. This little gem fits right in to the unique and hip surroundings of Eastown. With food made from scratch using or ganic and local ingredients, you will be hard-pressed to find something on the menu that you don’t like. The Electric Cheetah is made up of “real people who care about where your food comes from,” which definitely shines through with each and every bite! And I mean, with a name like Electric Cheetah, how can you not want to check it out?

The Green Well
This American Gastro Pub will take you on a taste tour of the world without leaving the city. With an ever-changing menu, The Green Well pairs global inspiration with local ingredients to keep guests guessing and coming back for more. They also have an extensive beer and wine list ranging from local brews to European favs. Not only do they take great care of their customers, they also put the “Green” in The Green Well, with their devotion to protecting the environment.

If you are a Grand Rapids native and haven’t been to Marie’s, we may question your sanity. Voted number 1 out of 788 restaurants in GR on TripAdvisor.com, Marie Catrib’s is an absolute must. With a devotion to food that is thoughtful, flavorful and local, there is something for everyone at Maire Catrib’s. Whether you are strictly-veggie, gluten-free, or a full-fledged carnivore, you will find something that will leave you feeling satisfied. And dessert? Don’t even get us started, just get some.

You will never get bored of the menu at Terra, as they use seasonal flavors to keep things interesting and fresh. At Terra they are not only dedicated to following the seasons, but also promoting healthy lifestyles through their hand crafted delicious dishes that are locally sourced. Their unique menu is only rivaled by the unique and hip atmosphere- complete with an open-view kitchen/grill so you can literally watch this freshness in action.
Price Range: $8-$25 Gotta Try: Pan Seared Scottish Salmon
Looking for a place that mom, dad, the kids, and Aunt Mauv can all enjoy? Look no further! Twisted Rooster promises their guests “locally grown food in an energetic and family-oriented atmosphere.” They offer a wide range of American classics…with a twist! Using local products from within 20 miles of the restaurant, as well as a plethora of Michigan beer and wine, Twisted Rooster truly stands by their “Commit-to-the Mitt” policy. A place that is both family and budget friendly!

Even if you are not a vegan/vegetarian, you will love Bartertown Diner. With some of the best locally sourced vegan and vegetarian dishes around, this downtown diner has a killer menu, without actually killing….anything. However, what they lack in the meat department, they make up for and more in freshness and flavor! And while most people think you have to break-the-bank to eat healthy, you will not only eat healthy but leave happy, since nothing on their menu is over $10!

Amore Trattoria Italiana
Chef and owner Jenna Arcidiacono makes you feel like a part of the family, as she and her staff cook up some of the most authentic and delicious Italian cuisine on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. You may even forget you are in West Michigan as you swirl your glass of cabernet to the sounds of Andrea Bocelli. As with Italian culture, they take time and care preparing each meal from scratch, so don’t expect to dine-and-dash.

This place is so fresh they don’t even print their menus. Guests receive an ipad with the most current local flavors, which are ever-changing. If you’re like us and can’t make up your mind, try a “Taste of Grove,” which allows you to choose three courses for just $35. With a professional, knowledgeable staff and stunning food preparation, you will see why Grove is the talk of GR.

Looking for something by the shore? Rose's is located on beautiful Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids. With their dedication to fresh and local ingredients and flare for Mediterranean, Italian, and Causal American dining, even the pickiest of eaters will find something they’ll love. Celebrate your mid-week with "Wine Down Wednesdays," for half off wine by the glass all day long! Oh and did we mention the complimentary caramel corn at the end of every meal??

With one kitchen and two dynamic sides, at Rockwell-Republic you can have great food and choose your mood. If you are looking for a lively yet classy bar scene with a great outdoor patio, Rockwells is where it’s at. However, if you and your party are looking for quality conversation over martinis and sushi, Republic has your name all over it. Feeling Jazzy? Swing by Republic on a Monday night for live jazz from 8-11pm. No matter which side you choose, you can expect quality local fun and flavor.

Located in Uptown GR, The Winchester is a neighborhood favorite. Their casual vibe paired with their sophisticated menu options and Michigan beer selections are what keep Winchester regulars coming back. The Winchester uses fresh ingredients including produce from the garden across the street…. doesn’t get much more local than that! Take a seat inside or on their outdoor patio for a night of fun and great food with friends. We might even see you there!

If you are looking for great beer, seriously stop looking. We found it for you. Rated as the #1 Brewpub in America by RateBeer.com, Hopcat was founded on the desire to bring you great beer….and that it does. With over 48 beers on tap and constantly changing, you can see why Hopcat is known as a “Craft Beer Mecca.” But it doesn’t stop at great beer, Hopcat has an extensive menu filled with delicious locally sourced burgers and other classic American fare. The Uber Burger was one of the top ten finalists in this year’s Grandwich Competition, and the crack fries pretty much speak for themselves.
